Dex refuses to stand by while another team goes after Hogan, and decides to put his old HPF detective skills to work to find Hogan before Theta Destructive, no matter the cost.

With a lengthy and painful recovery ahead of him, the last thing Sloane needs is his partner out scouring the city, especially when the lies - however well-intentioned - begin to spiral out of control. Sloane is all too familiar with the desire to retaliate, but some things are more important, like the man who's pledged to stand beside him. I wanted to like it

The first thirds book was excellent, dark and gripping. The third and fourth books aren't up to par. Especially "Rise and Fall". There was so much drama going on that I almost didn't finish the book. Like Austen said, "Everyone's sleeping with everyone." And that became the whole theme of the book while the main plot of capturing Hogan just became the side show. I really had high hopes for the series but it just became another cliche fangirl m/m fiction - with everyone having "issues" and they have to release it in emotional monologues, rambling about their feelings for each other. I mean come on. The same thing happened to the Cut and Run series.

I want the author to go beyond the idea of Therians and the Thirds. I wanted to her to dig deeper to the main plot and not be afraid of her characters. I wanted it to be a plot driven story rather than character driven.

I really like the premise and the promise of the series. I just wish the first book's brilliance could have been sustained.

Fantastic book, excellent continuation of the THIRDS series

Fantastic book, excellent continuation of the THIRDS series. I read this nonstop from cover to cover. Loved the storyline, characterizations, suspense and humor. I love Dex and Sloane. This book was different as Sloane was recovering from a serious injury, so the guys weren't partnered on the job. Dex and Sloane were still featured throughout the book, but in a different context. It was fascinating to see new or hidden aspects of their personalities and how they came through. Enjoyed seeing a little bit of the darker side of Dex, obsessed with finding and arresting Beck Hogan. Glad to see Sloane opening up and truly realizing what Dex means to him. Love that the characters are still growing and fresh.

With Sloane injured, we got to see more of the team particularly Ash as well as Sebastian. Loved learning more about the other members and seeing them all pull together as a team even with their leader injured. We see more of Ash in Rise & Fall and lots of Ash-Dex interactions. Happy to see Ash fleshed out more yet not losing his gruff and grouchy personality. After seeing more of Ash/Cael, Calvin/Hobbs and Sebastian, I'm looking forward to books concentrating on them.

Lots of action, suspense and character moments, this book ended all too soon. I've re-read the entire THIRDS series, it never gets old. Enjoyable characters, action, adventures and a lot of love underneath even if certain characters are too stubborn to admit it. Excellent book. I'm ready for the next one.

Story Review:

I must say I was so glad Rise & Fall picked up right where Rack & Ruin ended! Those were some traumatic times. It set our story up to see our heroes grow and change while getting the bad guy.

Unfortunately, Dex and Sloane are apart for quite a lot of the book. Dex having decided to protect his family no matter the cost leaves Sloane recuperating at home. Lies are made and relationships are worn thin. However from this comes determination and finding out what means the most to them.

We see more of the other couples’ relationships, which is nice. Ash and Cael as well as Calvin and Hobbs move to address their issues.

There is lots of action and adventure. Although Dex is a little tstl at times, he is still his crazy fun self and I liked the music references throughout the book. We see a sweeter, sappier side of Sloane and I really liked the time they do spend together.

The story set up over the last three books came to a close, but I look forward to whatever else awaits the Destructive Delta team in future books.

Narration Review:

I really like this narrator, he has different voices for the characters and he is easy to listen to. I like that they do effects for talking on the phone or over headsets, it lends more depth to the production.

Delicious treats!

Ketogenic diet is basically high-fat low-carb diet. That is, of course, very oversimplified but just for the basic info for those that don't know.
I don't follow keto diet but I understand the principles and they make a lot of sense. I tried it for a brief time like practically everything that comes my way regarding to eating regimes, but I didn't stick with it. That being said, this dessert book has some seriously mouthwatering recipes. They are all high in fat and low in carbs so keep that in mind if you are incorporating them into your meal plans – and you should because they are absolutely delicious. It is very hard to not eat just those desserts for every meal, believe me.
As far as I'm concerned, this is a must-have dessert recipe book, ketogenic or not. It is down to the taste of them and that is top notch.

Contrary to popular belief, a diet which consists of high fat and low carb intake is one of the most effective for weight loss (as long as the fats are saturated). This book contains plenty of high-fat, low-carb dessert recipes that will fuel your body during the state of ketosis, control your cravings and satisfy your taste buds. I only tried a few of them, but I must say, they were delicious. You won't regret getting this book, whether you're on a ketogenic diet or not.

Se agradece un libro de este nivel sobre este tema y en nuestro idioma

En mi vida profesional me he topado con problemas serios al programar sistemas concurrentes.
En todos esos casos yo estimo que un 50% de los problemas fue mi falta de conocimientos adecuados sobre programación concurrente. A pesar de que en la universidad en cursos de sistemas operativos e incluso en seminarios, se te enseñan estos conceptos, no alcanzas a asimilarlos con la profundidad necesaria. Al menos la formación que te dan en la universidad te sirve de una guía, y se agradece, pero sería bueno contar con referencias prácticas y concretas sobre los problemas que enfrentas a tratar la programación concurrente. Otro aspecto importante es que lo que aprendí en los ochenta, no necesariamente aplica para la realidad del hardware y los sistemas actuales.
Los más interesante de este libro es que está pensado en el programador profesional, que no necesariamente tuvo la formación universitaria en estos temas, o para quienes enfrentan estos problemas y necesitan actualizar sus conocimientos.
En mi caso lo leí con mucho interés y aprendí cosas muy interesantes.

La sección que me pareció más interesante fue la titulada "La realidad del hardware moderno", que fue muy reveladora y donde pude entender porqué cosas que en teoría deberían funcionar, no lo hacen como uno espera (sobre todo si intentas, quijotéscamente, crear tus propias bibliotecas y estructuras de datos concurrentes).
Lo otro interesante es que para explicar los conceptos Ricardo recurre a diversos lenguajes al alcance de cualquier programador, sin recurrir a esotéricos lenguajes académicos. Los ejemplos están en C, Java, Python y Go y en un momento debe usar Ensamblador de ARM (en una Raspberry Pi!), pero no se asusten por esto último, si leen el libro la complejidad se maneja de forma gradual, y la razón de usar ensamblador es coherente con el problema que se está tratando de resolver.

Es un libro muy práctico, incluso en la primera parte, que aborda los fundamentos más teóricos, absolutamente necesarios para entender lo que viene.

Uno de los objetivos de Ricardo era poder escribir un "ebook técnico legible", y lo logra bastante bien. Cuando expone código lo hace con una brevedad que se agradece. Leer ejemplos que toman muchas páginas de código en una tableta, o una Kindle es una tortura. En este caso funciona bastante bien. La elección de Python para expresar código breve es la clave para este logro. En este punto tengo que felicitar a Ricardo, debe ser el único libro técnico de programación que he leído por entero en mi Kindle, sin tener que recurrir a mi Mac o al iPad para poder mantener todo el código a la vista. Esto les parecerá una minucia, pero si tienen la costumbre de leer muchos libros de programación en formato ebook, lo comprenderán y agradecerán.

John Bunyan (1628 – 1688) wrote in the English of Chaucer. Few people today would derive any pleasure, or much sense, from reading “The Holy War” as it was originally written and so a modern English version of this classical work is welcome. Dolores Kimball is to be commended for bringing this allegorical story of the Christian life before a 21st century readership.

The story is about the spiritual battle that constantly rages for control of humanity. Two armies are at war. The diabolical forces of darkness and destruction have taken possession of the hearts, minds and souls of humanity. Outside the city are the armies of God, with the Son (Jesus) representing the forces of light and life. To whom will humanity surrender?

The Christian faces a daily battle in this war because the enemy is tenacious. There is much wisdom in Bunyan’s tale and we do well to apply the warnings and counsel to ourselves.

Fun ride! Nostalgic time capsule back to the 90's

You ever wake up in bed and hear your older brothers reminisce abt the people and things they've done in their past? You know u shouldn't listen but it's just too juicy and at the end u wind up discovering many layers to their personalities and revelations abt their past experience. And you never quite view your pain in rear brothers quite the same again.

That’s the way I felt reading Demetrius’s book detailing his relationship with the infamous musical genius known as R.Kelly.
The book does not paint Kelly in the most flattering light, but I found it refreshing that the author in detailing Kelly's character flaws refuses to paint Kelly as a mere monster but a deeply troubled man who was affected by many internal demons, he's sympathetic towards his subject when It would been easy to drop venom from his pen.

Page after page we witness Kelly's erratic, often childish, bazaar antics and his manipulative ploy of using money and fame as means of controlling people and the world around him.
I wondered why Demetrius put up with such utter disrespect. My answer would be that after all the hard work and essentially being the business brains behind the genius, Demetrius himself gets caught up in the seductive glamour that stardom affords and he allows himself to be used and another victim of Kelly’s masterful manipulation. Kelly clearly views him as nothing but another stair to climb in reaching success and a chess piece to move around at whim, although, none of those hits and the image of R. Kelly in the early 90’s never would have come to fruition without Demetrius working in the background.

As often the case of genius individuals they have the habit of seeing the pedestal others place them on and they in turn become blind to the needs of others, feeling that them sharing their gifts to the world is payment enough, and THEY in turn expect to be paid back and they often take payments in the form of using people for their pleasure and gain..

Kelly's self-payment also takes the form of abusing underage girls, like the pied piper (which he stupidly nicknames himself), Kelly uses his fame and musical gifts as a tool to lure children away and often lead them on the roads of abuse and self-destruction. It's all there in the book, but the authors refusal to exploit the salacious aspects, forces the reader to do a lot of reading between the lines. What I valued most in the author is when he doesn't know something or has the full details he admits that he doesn't know instead of making up lies or exploiting the situation, Demetrius I commend for that (smile).
The Aaliyah portions were handled as delicately as possible with the utmost respect for everyone involved. I do wish we could have gotten the full details surrounding the cause of the marriage, "was Aaliyah pregnant? Or was it an STD that caused her cycle to delay forcing Kelly's had to marry her to save himself from possible jail time? Did Aaliyah ever talk to him again before her death? Did she realize that she was just another groomed victim? The author doesn't know, or didn't feel comfortable enough to say which I respect and totally understand.

The one aspect of the book I didn’t enjoy was reading about the number of bed partners he and Kelly had, as a woman I really didn’t enjoy reading about those sordid details or the authors own practice of the old aged “brown paper rule” when it came to describing a woman’s beauty. As a light skinned biracial woman myself it still made me kind of uncomfortable to read that just about every woman he deems to be drop dead gorgeous was light skinned or looked like Mariah Carey, lol. It was just cringe worthy and makes for plenty of eye rolling and page skipping.

All in all tho the book was a pretty fun ride and at its cost, it’s certainly worth it. It’s like a time capsule back into the 90’s when music was good and everyone just wanted to have fun. Demetrius charm as a man and a writer instantly draws you, I certainly wouldn’t want to be left alone with him for over an hour as he literally drips charm and is immensely likeable in a childlike “I just want to protect and love him” kind of way.

I also loved the Gerald Levert portion. Being a Cleveland girl I knew Gerald very well, and was almost signed for a girl trio with his label when I was 17, but my mother refused to let me sign as she knew I had very strong feelings for Levert and vice versa and my father would have gone off, but that’s another book

Excellent read

I recommend this book for everyone but especially young people who are interested in pursuing careers in the entertainment/arts fields. I also think it is ideal for those who have family members struggling with drugs/alcohol. The author is honest, insightful and transparent in his recounting of his life and the lives of those that he was involved with. Thank God he learned from his experiences and lived to tell this story!!!

This story is worth reading , one mans struggle to find himself and deal with lifes struggle .I couldn't put it down well written and a god send for those struggling their own demons would highly recommend this book what a blessing .

Good book overall except it radically changes food habits for Indians & what I mean by that is there is no recipe with Rice or Wheat we are normally used to for all our life & hence adoption takes little longer as one has to develop taste buds for new things in eating, which by any means is not easy.

Also I'm little disappointed that it doesn't come with pdf version, so if you are travelling it becomes difficult to carry this book. I would highly recommend author to have pdf version ASAP & also offer it to existing customers to have it.

I first read this bible in 1979. Although I had gone to church, I was never motivated to read the Bible. For me, it was such easy reading and understanding that I found myself reading it for 4-6 hours daily or more. I did not know about controversies that people argue about today, but my inner self became satisfied, I felt peaceful and was also led to go on a fast. I still have it to this day and I recommend it to someone who is new in the faith and want to get an easy-reading overview of scripture. Ask for guidance as you read. This book literally changed my life.
