Lots of Interesting Deaths
By James N Simpson
This book has a lot of interesting deaths outlined in mostly two or three sentence but sometimes more paragraphs. What lets the book down though is it's just that, there's no personality or humour put into the writing at all. Not really any commentary or witty discussion after each death just the facts of each event. Compare it to say the Darwin Awards books for example and you've got a lot more content in this one yes, but this book is hard to stick with and read more than a few chapters at a time due to its text book style. There's no got to turn the page factor that good books on this genre have. The books that work in this genre are conversational style, this book just lacks that element in the writing.

Watch your step---you never know when your time's up!
By Jerry Guild
Despite the comments by the other reviewer, this book shows that there are thousands of ways to meet your demise. Most people will die from illness or other natural causes;a number will die from natural disasters, but there are many who will die,as the book shows,in unbelievable and ridiculous ways. The book simply lists one example after another. There is not much detail or explanation, and really not much needed. The deaths are simply explained and only goes to show the reader, that there are an unlimited ways to die and if you do dumb or dangerous things, you number can come up at any time.
The sequel to this book is waiting to be written. The sequel would give some of the comments made at the funeral parlor when friends of the deceased gather for mourning. If that is successful, maybe some of the Preacher's comments from the eulogy might be just as poignant.
How's this for ways to do a "final exit"?
A chicken thief ,caught by an angry mob,was forced to eat one of his ill-gotten
gains in its entirety. He choaked on a mixture of feathers ,bones and the beak.
The body of a church bell ringer was discovered crushed to death from the
fallen bell.
An 80 year woman choaked to death on swallowing buttons mistaken for pills.
A protester was killed crossing a road while carrying a sign reading:
THE END OF THE WORLD IS NIGH
A couple died from Carbon Monoxide poison while making love in the back of a
hearse. They had left the motor running to keep the air conditioning going.
Returning home from his stag,a man drowned when his car left the road and went
into a lake. His friends had attached a ball and chain to his leg.
A fellow was boiled alive when he took a moonlight dip in a volcanic hot spring
in Yellowstone National Park.
A 9 year old was killed while playing in a graveyard when a tombstone fell on
him.
A man died when he fell head first into a shredding machine.
This is just a sampling of the 1001 ways to die and let's hope you don't add to it!!
